We all have special gifts and talents, and writing is one of mine. Many people have encouraged my writing endeavors through the years -- family, friends, teachers, online acquaintances, and other writers. I am grateful for their encouragement and long to use my gift purposefully for God.
My writing adventures began at age seven, when I wrote my first book. It was the story of a field mouse that lived under a polka dot mushroom. I wrote the words in crayon on squares of brown paper bag, stitched with a needle and thread from my mother's sewing basket.
I won my first essay contest in the fourth grade, and that blue ribbon event led to more writing. Ready writing and journalism competitions, school newspapers, college writing courses, a local history column (see TXGenWeb), online essay contests ... and I'm still writing.
Yahoo! Contributor Network, formerly Associated Content, introduced me to Internet writing in 2006. I learned I could write about almost anything, get paid for it, and continue to earn residual income. Today, I'm a ghostwriter for Textbroker and other web clients, and I'm building unique article libraries on HubPages and other writer sites. You can also find me at Savoring Home, a Christian lifestyle blog.
1 Peter 4:10 (Contemporary English Version) says, "Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well."
I'm blessed to pursue writing as my ministry and career. I'm also blessed with tremendous support and encouragement from my husband. With the spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences (SHAPE) God gave me, I hope to make a unique difference in the world ... or at least my corner of it!
