About half past noon on Sunday, December 6, my father took his last breath. That was seventeen days ago. I miss him.
In fact, I’ve missed Dad for a while. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s related dementia six years ago, at the age of 61. Already in middle-stage at diagnosis, Dad had the early onset form of Alzheimer's. It progressed quickly.

William (Bill) Ruckert, Jr., a lifelong resident of La Grange, Texas, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was 67.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m., at the La Grange City Cemetery. Pastor Joel Rumbaugh of Bethel Baptist Church officiated.
