Managing Your Home-Sweet-Home

Posted on November 6, 2010 at 11:32 AM

"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures." (Proverbs 24:3-4, NIV)

Fifteen months ago, I left the workforce to became a stay-at-home wife, homemaker, and freelancer. My husband and I decided to trust God to provide for us through my husband's income, while I manage the home and pursue my writing.

Since then, I have read several books, newsletters, and web articles related to my role as a Christian woman, wife, and homemaker. I've also searched the scriptures for topics that apply to my new role. As I seek God's perspective and strive to do His will, I continue to search, read, study, and apply all that I learn.

Scripture Verses For Homemakers

"God has a great deal to say about your home, homemaking, and home management," Elizabeth George writes, in A Wife After God's Own Heart. Christian women are to build their home, watch over it, manage their home, and keep the home. George illustrates this with several Bible verses (here, from the New International Version): Proverbs 14:1, Proverbs 31:27, 1 Timothy 5:13-14, Titus 2:5, and 1 Corinthians 4:2
